A slow start by the Fat Stags proved to be costly as they shipped several early tries to a youthful and well drilled London French side.
The second half saw a much improved performance and relentless pressure in the opposition 22 which might have delivered more points but for repeated infringements by the defending side who drew two yellows from the referee.
A try from scrum half Paul Gilheany, converted by Scott Gourley, was scant reward for a gutsy second 40, with noteworthy contributions from Dave Padbury and skipper Stu Watson.
