Fat Stags remain unbeaten...
...with a little help from some friends.
The Fat Stags unbeaten run extends into a fourth season, but only just. An even more ad hoc line up than usual was augmented by some debutant Antlers who usually play at Staines and a couple of spares borrowed from Grasshoppers.
In a closely fought and entertaining match the Stags outscored a better resourced Grasshoppers team 4 tries to 3 and did well to adapt to opposition tactics and change their defensive alignment to shut out some dangerous runners. But for some confusion over whether last play meant last play and a resultant GH try, the scoreline would have better reflected the Stags' superiority.
Special mention goes to Steve Rac for delivering some much needed players late on, those being Alix 'Monster' Hay, Charlie Hay and Fraser Young who bagged a hattrick.
Congratulations also to Liam Kennedy and Steve Smart for playing their first matches in many years and not looking like they had ever had any time out.
