Festival fever at Rosslyn Park

Festival fever at Rosslyn Park

The girls and boys of the under 7s made another appearance on the playing fields of Rosslyn Park’s riverside venue, Kings House Sports Ground at a festival this time. The Under 7s played here a couple of weeks ago for a mini training tournament so it was nice to re-visit the venue and they all looked comfortable to know the pitch and meet some of the players from other teams again.
Teams came as far as Chichester to compete this week.

What a difference 2 weeks makes too, the level of rugby from these energetic 6 and 7 year olds was amazing to watch and they are certainly starting to listen to their brilliant coaching team.
“Defensive line” was the buzz word of the day from the side lines and by the end of the morning the defensive play was definitely visible as was the dodging, running and passing to score the numerous tries in all 6 squads.

This week I will hand over to 2 budding rugby players and writers to give you a quote from their match report through their eyes!!

“Today I scored loads of tries and we won loads of matches and I did tags and my team did well. My team mates were Elli, Dylan, Daniel and Euan”
By Isaac Bell

“We scored a lot of tries, we ran to get a lot of tags but we need more practice with the defensive line"
By Arthur Bell

You can’t knock their enthusiasm and belief in themselves and their self-critique! The fact they were willing to write a few lines on their rugby when they got home on Sunday also proves what a positive impact sport can have on the youngsters too!

It is back to Bushy for the Under 7s on Sunday and I think they will all be on cloud nine after an exciting time away experiencing tag competition, team work and learning from each game.

I look forward to hearing from some more of our players for the next match report. I think I have just set match report writing homework for the under 7s there!

Thanks must go to Rosslyn Park for hosting us on Sunday and to the amazing team of coaches led by Keith Bush. It is onwards and upwards for the under 7s team!
