Under 7s festival debut at Chobam Rugby Club

Under 7s debut to festival season!

On a clear sunny morning at Chobham Rugby Club the Teddington under 7 rugby squads made an excellent start to their season. There were smiles all round as tries were scored, tags were pulled and balls were held as these energetic young girls and boys dodged, jumped and sprinted to the touch lines.

By the end of the morning you could see the team work developing and the passing improving and the diamond formation starting to appear in the glorious sunshine!

We could hear ‘on me’ and ‘tag’ with hand in the air loud and clear and the coaches and parents on the side lines were very much enjoying all the cheers and shouts of encouragement.

What was also very positive was players who were waiting for their game were either practising their ball skills or on the side lines cheering on the other Teddington teams. In fact I overheard one parent from another club saying how great the Teddington support was! Enthusiasm of all players really showed!

The code of rugby that is teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship were all underpinned by the coaches and the young players were really trying hard to respond to these disciplines.

Thanks must go to the dedicated team of coaches on the day so big shout out of thanks from the players and parents to Keith, Nigel, Billy, Patrick, Paul, Mark, Richard and Scott. Big thanks too to Lizzie for organising us all and being our First Aider. Luckily the kit was not used this week!

Thanks must also go to our host Chobham Rugby Club who organised a great festival. All girls and boys received a medal, which they were all very proud of and I am sure there were a lot of medals going in to schools on Monday morning for show and tell! We also got a festival momento trophy, which all the girls and boys were chuffed with and will be proud to show off to the club.

Well done players, coaches and supportive parents let the awesomeness and hard work continue.
