Antlers ladies got off a frustrating start having to settle for a losing bonus point losing out to Guildford 12-10.

With the number of chances they created, Antlers will return to training this week knowing they must be more clinical, but also have plenty to be positive about with numerous aspects of their play impressing at this stage of the season.

With a pack featuring a first start at prop for Lucy Harrison, a first start at lock for Nat Haidari and a first start at flanker for 18-year old Viv Leong, the Antlers pack did very well throughout despite some inexperience with all three of those players playing a key role in a strong pack effort.

The game got off to a very shaky start for Teddington who conceded a try after just a minute, when the ball was stripped in the first piece of contact and a disorganised defensive line enabled the impressive Guildford number 8 to score under the posts.

Chasing the game from the off, Antlers began to settle into the match and scored from a very strong scrum as the half wore on close to the line with Emma Kite diving over. Despite dominating possession and territory, Antlers couldn't convert their chances .

Trailing 7-5 at the break, Antlers took the lead 10-5 with a well worked try from the electric Izzy Jorris but they would go on to rue a series of missed chances, including two drives that were held up over the line, and a call back for a forward pass with the line at the mercy of three Antlers players.

Those errors proved costly as Guildford broke through the middle to score and take a 12-10 lead and though Teddington ended the game attacking hard in the Guildford 22, unforced errors cost them dearly.

Antlers will be frustrated but know there is plenty more in the tank. Huge congratulations are in order for the girls making their Antlers debuts including Nicole Kwee and Atlanta St John - the latter playing her first ever game of rugby!

The ladies are back in action next Saturday against London Welsh at 1pm at Bushy Park.
