Teddington welcomed local rivals Kingston RFC to Bushy Park on Saturday in truly awful conditions, but dug deep to secure a richly deserved win.
Rory MERCER (pictured) was celebrating his 100th cap for the Antlers, and it was fitting that he got on the score sheet in a dominant first half for the hosts. Along with another try by captain Jack MILLER meant Teddington turned around at half time 12-3 to the good.
After the break a further penalty by Jacob WILLIAMS pushed the score to 15-3, but Kingston came back strongly. Phenomenal defence by the Antlers kept the visitors out for the most part, however they finally got their rewards late on with a converted try. The referee blew time immediatley after however and the boys could celebrate a really gritty victory.
Well done to both teams, the weather made playing any sort of rugby very difficult, but it didn't stop them putting on a full blooded, evenly matched encounter. We look forward to the return fixture.
As usual training on Thursday @ 7.30pm, Udney Park Road, Teddington. 5 mins walk from Teddington Station.
