Following the disappointment of both the Men’s 2nd XV and Women’s games being cancelled due to the opposition not being able to field a side, all the focus this weekend was on the 1st XV who travelled to Trinity RFC for their Surrey 1 encounter. The Antlers started well, dominating the scrum and winning the physical battle. Tries from Olly HOLLAND and Tom TOMBLESON along with some immaculate place kicking from Bob BEEVERS took the visitors into a 17-0 lead. However a Teddington sin binning just before half-time signalled a swing in momentum. Trinity got over the try line for their first points just before the interval and began to take control of the game in the second 40 mins as their fly half started to pin the visitors back with some clever kicking. The torrent of penalties conceded was never going to help the Antlers, but it wasn’t until the final 10 minutes that Trinity finally hit the front for the first time by scoring in the corner. From there on the hosts held on for a win which took them to the top of the league and left Teddington to ponder what might have been. Final Score Trinity RFC 26 Teddington RFC 23.
Congratulations to Alex GLOVER who made his 1st XV debut in the front row.
