Bushy Park hosted Law Society on Saturday and after a run of defeats Teddington hit the reset button, got their heads back in the game, and came out on top.
After a very good week of prep, and eager to mark club stalwart, Brant PALIN's 100th game with a performance to remember, the Antlers were in good shape going into this one.
Although it seemed a bright and brisk spring day, it wasn’t one that the hookers and fly-halves would thrive in. Strong winds changed the game plan for both sides and Law Society got on the scoreboard early on with a try from their forward pack who were looking to play it tight.
Teddington have struggled throughout this season to get out of the blocks from the onset but the boot of Bob BEEVERS got Antlers into their stride and they were able to start playing some of the expansive rugby they had been looking to play the past few games.
Antlers attacked, and counter-attacked well, especially at the break down - where the game seemed to be won or lost. One of the standout performers was No.8 Kerry BOYD (pictured), who dominated the breakdown and kept the momentum rolling for Teddington. He also bagged two tries and in the process won man of the match
Although Teddington had the upper hand, they also allowed Law society to capitalise upon the errors made, making the game close until the very end. A few tries from the home side were left out there, but overall, it is a step in the right direction with the XV looking to gain top-four status and the season on a high.
With three league games remaining this season, Teddington travel to Purley John Fisher next Saturday looking to build back to the winning ways they saw before Christmas.
Final Score: Teddington RFC 23 Law Society RFC 20
