Teddington 1st XV were on the road for the second week running when they visited the historic Old Blues RFC on Saturday. Protecting their unbeaten start in the league, the Antlers had a large pool of players to select from this week, allowing the club to field 3 teams for the first time in 4 years. This is a great reflection of the enthusiasm currently coursing through the club and long may it continue. The game started well for the Antlers, with full back Lewis CARTER crossing for the first converted try, but the Old Blues hit back with a converted try of their own. No.8 Kerry BOYD powered over to restore the Antlers lead at half time, but again the hosts pegged back the league leaders shortly after the break to bring the score back to 12-14. Up until this point the stop, start nature of the game was not helping Teddington get into their stride, but as the game progressed, play began to open up, allowing the visitors to finally stretch their lead. Man of the Match Lewis CARTER crossed for his second try of the afternoon, wingers Harry SMITH and George BRADFORD also crossed the whitewash, whilst fly half Bob BEEVERS defied the windy conditions by slotting two drop goals. A bonus point victory on the road was in the bag and the unbeaten start to the league program continues. Attentions now turn to the top of the table clash with Chipstead RFC at home next Saturday, in what should be great match up. Final Score Old Blues RFC 12 Teddington RFC 36. Man of the Match Lewis CARTER.
