Welcome Parents and Children to the Minis section of Teddington RFC

Last season, we had a fantastic year; both on the pitch and off the pitch. Our plans are in place to move forward again, this season…… It’s World cup year and we have some great events and activities planned.

Teddington is one of the leading Mini Rugby clubs in Surrey and Midd’x. We have an outstanding reputation with the RFU, with other clubs in the area, and most importantly with the Parents, children and club members.

We always welcome new members and encourage children and parents to come along on a Sunday and give Teddington Rugby a “try”. If you are new to the area and looking for a club, or a first timer in Rugby you will find a warm and friendly welcome and good supportive coaching.

Our club philosophy, for the Minis, revolves around our priority of maintaining our position as a family oriented, community club that is fully focused on the children enjoying their rugby.

We build on our traditions and our heritage, combining these with a progressive attitude which is epitomised by our new clubhouse and our growing social calendar.

We want to be competitive and to win competitions but not for winning's sake, rather it is an indication we are doing things right: the fact we were winners / finalists / top three in so many festivals and tournaments across Surrey and Middx, reflects the supportive framework we have established, the hard work of parents / volunteers and coaches, and the skills and attitudes of the children.

We believe that all players are equally important - no matter which squad they play in or skill level they have. We also want to encourage more parents to participate whether or not they have a rugby background.

Simply we want to make sure the two hours on a Sunday are one of the highlights of the children's week.

We fully support the RFU principles of TREDS: teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship. This applies to children and adults. We have a great reputation as a club which is disciplined on the field and at the pitch side.

We have well qualified coaches leading and running each age group. This year we are going to "up our game” even further and increase the numbers of qualified coaches / referees / first aiders / volunteer helpers at all levels.

We are always looking for helpers. Remember you do not have to have played Rugby to attend a course or be a coach!

We do want to get as many people as we can trained in first aid – another of our key priorities is the health and safety of the children.

We also intend to make this year’s minis tour the biggest and best ever. The tour is aimed at all the family members.

Come along to our club socials and attend the clubhouse for the world cup matches....everything is on the website and in the club brochure.......and meet up with your friends at the club, or make new friendships.

As one of the largest minis sections in the area, we have created a firm foundation for the future. The infrastructure we have in place will serve the Minis well this coming season. This will manifest in success on the pitch and as importantly in the sound of laughter as the children have fun.

That sheer enjoyment of their rugby at Teddington will I trust - keep them in the rugby "family" for life and teach them life skills as well as playing skills.

This will be our own contribution to the rugby legacy in this World Cup year.

If you would like to find out more: the details are on the website – or simply come along to the club on a Sunday and try it out for a few weeks before you join.

Best, Julian
