Great start to the season and a big Sunday ahead. This week is a 9am start followed by the minis season opening BBQ and Festival of Rugby.

"To give the players the best two hours of their week through rugby" and "we work to develop a free thinking independent rugby player who can make the right decision at the right time in the majority of instances."
- Teddington RFC coaching Philosophy

Hi all

Welcome to the start of the 2015/16 rugby season and a huge festival of rugby on our doorsteps, no not the RWC but Teddington RFC. We are delighted to welcome back both children and families returning after a long break and new children and families who are joining Teddington RFC.
We hope you have had a brilliant summer and are as excited about the season ahead as we are.

There is an earlier start to training this Sunday 13th September - we start at 09:00 sharp and will finish at 11:00. Training is followed by the welcome BBQ and the Festival of Rugby Open day. ITV will be at the club filming, lots of activities are planned for the kids, there is a BBQ, hog roast, live band, sponsor stands followed up with pony rides and wine tasting into the evening.

The session plan for Sunday is as follows (see also the session plans & games attached below)

  • Relay races
  • Some one on one passing – passing circle (get the coach to run around rather than the player – “slow coach”)
  • Truck and trailer to really get them used to the idea that “tag pass” means you have to “pass” – plus support the ball carrier.
  • Try some real games.

We are a club run by volunteers so ask for anyone who wants to try coaching, managing teams, volunteering in any capacity to step forward and introduce themselves to Kevin, Julian or Leon. We especially ask for volunteers to help with the setup from 8.30 am.

Sunday 20th Sept is also a 09:00 start due to our U16s playing La Plata RFC (from Argentina) from 11am onwards. The minis are being asked to form a players tunnel and are encouraged to watch the match.

The U6 newsletter will be published on the website every Thursday morning and sent out in the weekly roundup.

We look forward to a brilliant year in rugby.
Kevin Day, Julian Knott & Leon Spight
