Silverware coming back to TW12

18 intrepid U15 players and families spent an exciting day at Arras rugby club in Northern France participating in La Fete du Rugby on Saturday.

A first pool stage win against Douai RFC set the tempo for the day, with the Teddington boys scoring 4 tries in the 15 minute game.
Two tough games against Stade Villeneuvois and Harpenden meant the final pool game against Crawley could not be lost to ensure we progressed to the knockout stages. A very close game with Teddington spending a lot of time in the Crawley 22 but not managing to get across the line. The game ended scoreless, but that was enough for us to progress.

Our quarter final was against another touring team from the top of Middlesex league - Ruislip. Their abundant subs were too strong for our tiring legs, so a loss put us into the Challenge Cup draw.

A very tight semi final against Woodford followed, with Haribo and wine gum fueled Teddington finding a new burst of energy and winning the game with a try in the last play of the game.

Our final was against another strong French team, Bethune. The boys dug deep and found another gear. After 10 minutes we were 10-5 up when the heavens opened and the game was paused as a thunderstorm added to the tense atmosphere. Despite being wet a and a bit cold, the boys went out again with a new sense of focus and put in 2 more tries to seal a convincing 20-5 victory.

Special shout out to the Ruislip tourists who threw their support behind the Antlers in the final, creating an amazing atmosphere for our boys play in.
