On a balmy Friday evening in early July, the 3rd fixture of the Surrey and Middlesex Touch League tournament was fixed to go ahead in Teddington. Unfortunately, Wasps and Ruislip struggled to form a side so the planned tournament became one head to head. Nevertheless, the two sides present weren’t complaining about the free seven points apiece and got ready for a good game!

We started at a fast pace as both teams made strong plays for the try-line. Teddington got the first score as some good passes led to a touchdown through the legs of our captain. The Red Lions were the next to get close, with a brilliant dive for the line getting unluckily thwarted by a touch to the ponytail. The match was much more even than the score would suggest, with the Red Lions nearly breaking our defence on many occasions. However, Teddington worked the advantage of a big mob of subs to call on and kept pressing in the second half. Some fast footwork, great runs and nifty passes lead to 3 more tries and the win after the 30 minutes. By which point it was time for some cold jugs of beer down the pub, courtesy of birthday boy and captain Roger!

We’d like to say thanks to the LSFC Red Lions for making it down and look forward to seeing them alongside Wasps and Ruislip at the tournament on the 29th.
