Teddington grabbed their first win of the season at the weekend

After a tough opening game against Reading Abbey, Teddington women got their season up and running with a hard fought 10-7 win over Ellingham and Ringwood at home.

The game, played in glorious conditions, got off to a tough start with the visitors running hard and Teddington struggling to keep hold of the ball.

Ellingham grabbed the first score after a neat run through the centre and Antlers were 7-0 down by the break. In the first half some fine play from Chloe Halladey, Becci De Garston Webb and Alex Michail up front were noticeable ,while Laura Mackay's boot and Laura Quinn's tough defending also caught the eye.

Teddington were like a different team in the second half with most of the game played in the Ellingham half and though they struggled to take all of their chances, a fine score from Halladey got them on the board following some solid build up from Penny Carr, and Helen Coyte, whose carrying proved hugely important throughout the game.

With Vic Claydon working hard all game to keep the tempo high, Teddington scored again through Quinn, whose quick thinking the 22 and powerful drive saw her power over the line to give the hosts the lead

Teddington ended the game on the defensive with Jane Wescott making some vital tackles while Sabrina Rambohul also did well to marshall the attack out wide.

Forward of the match went to Jen Box, while Quinn was the back of the match.

Next up is the long trip to Collumpton!
