Convincing win over Old Emanuel

Teddington's over 35s team, The Fat Stags, started their season with an entertaining 36-17 win over Old Emanuel. Playing under lights at Imber Court in Esher a strong side showcased some adventurous and ambitious rugby against solid opposition who gave nothing away in a physical and good natured encounter.
In the forwards flanker Justin Scott displayed his trademarked commitment and ferocity in defence and was a constant thorn at the breakdown. Evergreen Andy Benson created go forward from number 8 and even chipped in with a cute tactical grubber when in attack.
The backs enjoyed great success with ball in hand with club stalwarts Chris Dickson at centre and James Etheridge and Jason Bannister out wide making big yards with every carry, often after uncompromising hit ups from Simon Daws at inside centre.
Sadly there were no Dads from the Minis or Junior sections in the squad, with only the effervescent Andrew Greer being a parent who regularly plays for Teddington's mens' Senior teams. If you are a parent who has played in the past and would like to play again in a fun, social side please contact me, as rugby at Teddington is for players aged 6 to 66 and we would very much like to keep up the tradition of having Minis and Junior parents in our Senior sides.
