Teddington Ladies enjoyed an excellent end to their pre season campaign with two wins over London Welsh and Rosslyn Park!

Both teams compete in the league above Antlers ladies.

The week before, 10 Teddington players had travelled to Ireland with a combined London Barbarians team alongside players from Wasps and London Welsh, and the experience certainly stood the side in good stead as they showed up very well at a mini festival at Rosslyn Park last weekend.

Playing two games of forty minutes each, Teddington first faced home team Rosslyn Park.

The ladies went ahead with an excellent try from Hollie Blenman and this was backed up by a fine finish from Clare Brown, who dived over following some excellent work by the pack.

Rosslyn Park scored a last minute try but Teddington took the game out 12-5.

Next up were London Welsh and Teddington got off to a superb start and they were over the try line within five minutes. Amy Miller was deemed to be just held up, but the Teddington pack were not to be denied, and Emma Davis burrowed over minutes later.

Taking a 5-0 lead into half time, Teddington added to their tally with a superb score from Brown straight after the re start. Taking a quick tap, the hooker ran it in from 40 metres and the conversion from Rhian Clarkson made it 12-0.

Antlers were then forced to defend for the remainder of the match with some massive tackles going in from the likes of Laura Parry, Zoe Feenan, and Heather Smith.

Welsh scored to make it 12-5 and then ended the game hammering the Teddington try line. Eventually they crossed the line but the missed conversion saw Teddington lift the Kay’s Cup Memorial and take a lot of positives going into the new season.

Up front the pack were in excellent form led by new captain Penny Carr, while Parry enjoyed a strong game at fly half. There were three debuts for Teddington on the wing so all in all, an excellent day’s work!
