Teddington find some form

1st XV earn big win over Grasshoppers. Honours even for 2nd XV at KCS Old Boys

Teddington put in arguably their best performance of the season, as they dispatched local rivals Grasshoppers in an emphatic win at Bushy Park. It’s been a stop start season so far for the Antlers as they try and establish themselves at level 6, but things finally clicked on Saturday. They looked sharp in attack and organised in defence, scoring six trys and soaking up the barrage of heavy ball carriers that the visitors threw at them. Teddington welcomed back wing Gabe TURNER and backrow Tom PUGH, whilst prop forward George BRADFORD returned from injury. It was a fast start , with the hosts crossing twice, courtesy of Jack MILLER and Ethan DAVIES in the first 10 minutes before adding a third through Will MAVIN on the half hour mark. The second of those trys was the pick of the bunch with Bob BEEVERS and MAVIN combining down the left-hand side before BEEVERS collected his own grubber kick before deftly offloading to DAVIES to go under the posts, with the Antlers faithful roaring their approval. Grasshoppers came back with a try down their left to reduce the score to 19-5 at the break. Grasshoppers started to dominate the possession in the second half, using their big ball carriers to try and crash through the Antlers defensive line, but with a solid defence and a scrum that was in the ascendency Teddington were happy to bide their time. When the chances came the Antlers took them, firstly stretching the Grasshoppers defence one way and then the other before a gap opened for DAVIES to grab his second try under the sticks. ROBERTS then showed his pace out wide before collecting his own kick and touching down, and finally Josh McKIERNAN took advantage of the visitors being reduced to 14 men to cut a diagonal line to the whitewash for Teddington’s 6th try. A much-needed win and confidence booster before another crucial local derby against London Irish Wild Geese next week. A few more performances like this one and Teddington can start looking up the table rather than over their shoulders. Final Score Teddington RFC 40 Grasshoppers RFC 5. Man of the Match Alfie RANSOM.

The 2nd XV travelled to Motspur Park to take on KCS Old Boys on Saturday, looking to build on an impressive league campaign so far. The game was a close affair and there were trys for Matteo BASOMBRIO and Ewan GRAY. However, nothing could split the teams come the final whistle. Final Score KCS OB 2nd XV 15 Teddington 2nd XV 15.
