9.45am start
Warm up then chat about festivals - ask squad coaches if they want to mix the squads
1 STUCK IN THE MUD - tagging/evasion technique exercise - 2/3 taggers try and stick the runners in the grid by tagging them. players are released by fellow runners crawling through legs lets urge the taggers to return tags quickly and properly - 10 minutes
2 ATTACK v DEF VARIED NUMBERS - tag rugby pitch - split into 2 teams - whites v blues in lines and coach shouts something like "Blues 3 attack" and 2 whites defend - players run down the touchline and enter the pitch at the try line - need 3 coaches/parents to make this work well - station 2 volunteers on the pitch corners with ball to feed the attacking team and serve as bollards- 15 minutes
3 FAST WALKING TAG RUGBY - 2 teams - full size pitch if someone runs its a turnover- should emphasise good positional play - 10/15 minutes
4 same tag rugby teams - TAG RUGBY GAME WITH TEAMS STAYING IN ATTACK/DEFENCE MODE - for 5 minutes one team attacks and gets the ball back at halfway upon a turnover or a try - emphasises good defensive play - challenge for defensive team is to keep the number of tries down and concentrate on defensive line and pressure - after 5 change the defensive team to the attack etc - COACHES PLEASE COUNT TRIES & TURNOVERS in the 5 minutes - 10/15 mins total
11.10 am drinks break where we mix the teams to play 7v7 tag rugby games
5. NORMAL TAG RUGBY GAMES for 25 mins - with regular breaks for coaches to coach and strict reffing
11.45 Bulldog to finish - ENJOY!
