The newly formed LWT (London Welsh Teddington) Colts team made a fantastic start to the season on Sunday with a victory over Wimbledon in their Tier 3 Surrey League fixture. Playing with a high level of intensity straight from the kick off, LWT immediately applied the pressure by playing a fast-paced game that took the opposition by surprise. This was fantastic to see given the limited trained the newly combined squad had together prior to the match.
With the score board ticking over, this quickly settled the team’s initial nerves, and they quickly built in confidence as the 1st half progressed. With an early contender for try of the season, Connor showed some individual magic to score a great try that delighted the spectators and took LWT into half time 32 – 0 up.

The 2nd half saw Wimbledon try to reassert themselves back into the game and it was a much more tightly contest affair with both sides scoring a try a piece. Unfortunately, both sides were impacted by injuries as the game went on but this didn’t stop the game being played at a high tempo with entertaining rugby being played right up until the final whistle. Final score 39-5 to LWT.
