Almost the end to a great season .................

Hi Everyone,

So another season comes to a close and I think we can all be very proud of the progression and camaraderie of this group of players. Its great to watch them play and socialise and enjoy their rugby and each others' company. They are a great bunch.

We finished with a mix of high and low this weekend. Our teams were overall winners in the A and B sections at the Esher floodlit festival playing some great head up rugby in difficult cold, dark and wet conditions despite some size disadvantage.

Then we had the disappointment of the disappearing London Irish festival places, apologies again to the 20 or so players who missed out here and thanks to you all for scrambling with the late news in this regard and to our B2 team who went international and played very well after a slow start. For those who made it to Udney Park - what a great venue!

Irish pass on their apologies for the oversight which caused our other teams to get bumped. It was a spreadsheet error and everything had been booked and paid for by our treasurer and fixtures secretary who do a great job for us. And we are still great friends with Irish. It was just one of those things.

Looking ahead, here's hoping our tourists have a great time this weekend and we look forward to seeing you at the pool party where our awards winners will be announced and the coaches get dunked in the water.

The voting for the awards has been done by the coaching, first aid and admin group (next year we will probably put it to the players to vote) and as a nod to the strength of the group its worth sharing that 12 players were voted for best player, 14 for most improved and 6 for best newcomer which suggests lots of deserving candidates and strong competition.

We plan to be in touch with some summer activities for the players to stay in touch with their rugby mates but please see the following other sporting ideas that I have been asked to mention:

Rugby League

Ian Glover runs summer rugby league at Richmond Warriors (who play at twickenham rfc) and Woody, Kai, Josh and Kyle, among others are playing.

Saturday football

NPL Youth FC are currently looking for U10 year 5 boys for their 2 Saturday football teams. The two teams play at different levels within the East Berkshire Youth Football League. All home games are played at NPL or Twickenham Academy 3G. Away games stretch from Twickenham to the Bracknell area. The teams are coached locally by qualified coaches (ranging from level 1 to UEFA B license) for 90 minutes on a Wednesday evening. The coaching sessions for the teams follow a similar syllabus which have been developed over the past couple of seasons.
There are quite a few U10 Teddington RFC players such as Ed, Ned, Carter, Weir, Ben, and Leo already at NPL that play for the two teams so any new boys would already know some of their team mates.
If you are interested then please register below ASAP. If you have any questions then please register through the website and type your question onto the form

Gaelic Football

London Irish are running Gelic football @ Hazelwood, see their website for details or contact Neil who can put you in touch with Triona at Irish

Enjoy the summer!
Cheers!
