1st XV lose at home to Old Rutlishians whilst the 2nd XV just miss out at Chobham

The disappointing league form continued on Saturday as Teddington went down to an Old Rutlishians side who took their chances and deserved the bonus point victory they took away from Bushy Park. The first 25 minutes did not suggest that a comprehensive defeat was on the cards. Teddington controlled possession, territory and won a constant stream of penalties in the early period, but crucially they did not take their opportunities when they came. Old Ruts did exactly the opposite, they soaked up the pressure and when their chance came broke quickly up field and banked a converted try. A subsequent penalty meant the visitors went into half time at 10-0 up, and Teddington started to realise the cost of not capitalising on that early pressure. The game started to get away from the Antlers from there on in. Handling mistakes and missed tackles giving Old Ruts the opportunity to keep the scoreboard ticking over. A late try by Dan ‘Rhino’ COLLINS was the hosts consolation. Final Score Teddington 5 Old Rutlishians RFC 27.

On a more positive note, congratulations go to Tom COLLETT who made his 150th appearance for the 1st XV on Saturday. A great achievement.

Elsewhere the 2nd XV were awarded the walkover win against London Irish due the opposition pulling out of the league. A rearranged fixture at Chobham was arranged and Teddington went down narrowly 31-26.

The final league games of the season are coming up next weekend, so lets come back with all guns blazing and finish the campaigns off in style.
