Edwin Doran 1946 - 2025

Gareth Cross11 Sep - 23:46

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Edwin Doran,

Edwin passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday 10th September, after bravely battling illness for a number of months.

Edwin a proud Irishman and local businessman was passionate about a number of things in his life; His family, His wine business and of course his Rugby to name but a few…We are therefore so thankful that Edwin directed some of this passion towards his local rugby club over many years, This affection for Teddington Antlers was no doubt helped by the fact that both his daughter Georgia and son Tom both played for the club.

Like his other passions he didn’t just stand by and watch, Edwin got involved….very involved. He sponsored us and supported us and raised funds for us and even helped paint the clubhouse and cooked in the kitchen. He went above and beyond what would normally be expected of a parent or a club member. And he was doing all this and still a regular on the touchline and in the bar long after Tom and Georgia hung up their boots.

Edwin was most certainly a one off, a larger than life character who lit up any gathering and he will be sorely missed by his family, his friends and everyone at Teddington Rugby Club. But comfort yourself in the knowledge that he is already sorting things out at the Great Rugby Club in the sky……Guinness in hand.

The thoughts and heartfelt condolences of the whole club are being sent to Edwins wife Rosie, to Tom and Georgia and to his whole family at this sad time.

As a mark of respect both the mens 1st XV and 2nd XV will be wearing black armbands for this Saturdays fixtures against Harpenden and Staines.

Details of Edwins funeral will be announced in due course
