Some sad news from Chris WRIGHT about the recent passing of Dudley CLAY.
Chris who is one of the original Antlers players back from the mid 1960's and who is still a regular on the touchline (and bar) on a Saturday afternoon reports that Dud and his wife Pam were larger than life characters who were a big part of Antlers life back in the 1960's and 70's.
After a few years at the club Dudley found himself a comfortable spot as 3rd XV Captain from 1975 until 1978 and during that time was the self appointed "Bastion of the front row" . He protectively kept his hand picked squad together much to the annoyance and continuous advances of Roger Bullock the 2nd XV captain.
Dudley also showed his theatrical side by organising the many Antlers Christmas pantomimes for local charities.
The team photo attached was the clubs first of many successful Easter Tours to the West Country in about 1970/71. Dudley can be found in the back row 3rd from the right
Details of Dudleys final departure are as follows.
