concussion procedures

All,

My annual reminder about the concussion procedures for Age Grade Rugby - that's from Colts down. Please as the caption says "Don't Be a Headcase".

As you are probably aware from a number of professional players being advised to retire by their doctors recently due to repeated concussion and the HIA protocols you will be seeing in the World Cup we take this very seriously and unfortunately for our young guys and girls it takes longer to recover as their brains are still developing.

For more information head over to the RFU website which has some great information:
https://www.englandrugby.com/participation/playing/headcase

And in particular I encourage you all to read The Age Grade Management Guidelines

None of our coaches will think any the worse of you for following these to the letter and please don't let schools brow beat them into taking part in a "critical" match - it's just not worth the risk!

If your child should be unfortunate to get a concussion at school please let you age group coaches and first aid reps know.

If in doubt please err on the side of caution and feel free to contact us on first-aid@teddingtonrfc.co.uk

Thanks
Jonathan
