LWT Colts played host to the Streetsville Tigers as part of their UK tour and enjoyed an open and free flowing game on a bright and sunny Saturday morning in Old Deer Park.
After games in South Wales and Bristol, the 40 player squad from the Streetsville Tigers in Ontario were warmly welcomed by the Colts in what became an entertaining and high paced game. National anthems were sung with gusto in the sunshine and the crowd settled in for an entertaining match. The LWT Colts were quick to open the scoring with a try from James, assisted by Aidan ( great to see him back after injury ) with both sides playing open rugby. The Tigers showed some real pace in their back line and capitalised on a few errors from the LWT players to stretch to a 33-12 lead and the mid point of the game.
This proved a turning point as LWT cut out their mistakes and changed their tactics. With tries from Lewis and Olly the scoreboard ticked over and the Colts drew close. A last minute try from Charlie secured the win 34-33! What was an improbable victory for most of the game, showed the the team spirit and determination. Congratulations to Dan J for a MoM performance.
Both teams enjoyed a post match meal with the traditional exchange of club ties, shirts and plaques. A great day and thank to the Streetville Tigers for a great game. Wishing them safe travels on their long trip home.
