Thunder play well at Wimbledon B festival

Thunder squad arrived and were in pool B, with teams from Effingham & Leatherhead, Esher, Farnham and Rosslyn Park. We had played some of these teams previously and knew what we were up against... Our first match was against Esher and our boys came out ready for action, some great fast play, good positioning and quick tagging, enabled us to finish with a 5-3 win. We had won the first match and the boys (and supporters) were now on a much deserved high. Thunder squad were working together excellently, but now we had Rosslyn Park, this potenially could be a tough game (with some potentially questionable decisions!!), but Thunder kept pushing forward and scored some great tries, final score 7-4 to Rosslyn Park. The boys had again played well, and not feeling defeated prepared for their next match against Farnham, with some great team work the boys took the lead and by half time were winning 3-1. As usual the players rotated over at half time and the lead was held, final score a very clear 6-3 to Teddington. Our final group match was against Effingham & Leatherhead who were at the top of the group leader board with 9 points to our 6. They had won every won of their matches, However they were not prepared for the defensive tagging power of TheTeddingtonThunder squad. Creating space and with some fantastic passes and runs, some beautful tries were scored. Again defensively the boys worked really well and closed in on their opponents, pushing them back and keeping the final score at a 4-4 draw. Thunder squad had done what no other team had managed too, and stopped them from getting a clean sweep!! Well done Thunder squad, another fantastic festival, where you truly showed of some of your finest skills. Whilst we had just missed out on the finals we had finished a very good third place on the group b table. Bring on the next festival!!!!!!
