The Magnificent Seven!
Gardner-Dobson, Haines, McDowell, Pugh, Ruddick, Salcedo, Stoyanov…
It was a bright chilly day in Stoke Park in Guildford, with a small Teddington squad entering the Guildfordians B festival, most of the players playing at this level for the first time. They tackled the day enthusiastically, after a tough start against Sevenoaks the team grew into the festival and ever imrpoved against Weybridge, Warlingham (when tries started to come along at a good rate from George and Diego) to finish on an exciting 4-3 win over Warlingham, where after tries by Thomas and Sami, Mark acted quickly for a great pick and go finish for the crucial 4th try to finish a great team performance full of good communication and energy.
Special mention to all the players as follows:
• Sam for his superb workrate, scrum halfing and tackling – an all action performer;
• Joe, for his attention to getting in the defensive line and his superb break against Haslemere;
• Mark, for his boundless enthusiasm, bravery and the match-winning try!
• Thomas, for his direct strong, unselfish strike running, lots of try assists and some great tackling back;
• George, in only his second festival showing superb running skills and clever finishing;
• Diego, looked very comfortable at this level, excellent all round team-man and good gains and tries with ball in hand; and
• Sami, great all round the park, strong and mobile and worked hard to cover wide, took his try very well.
Well done to the team, you played very well and had a lot of fun. The Coach and parents really enjoyed watching you play. Guildfordians run a great festival and thanks to them also.
George, feel free to add to this, but no zombies please!
