Our first two pool matches were poor by our standards. The sun was shining, but unfortunately the boys didn't sparkle, lacking somewhat in focus and overall application. In contrast to our performance at Cobham last week where we drew against Effingham, we lost 3-0 against them. In both initial games the boys got quickly frustrated with their own performance, giving our opponents the upper hand against us. Thankfully we played much better in the last two matches and the boys showed greater character, teamwork and ability. The first try of the day (against London Welsh) provided a welcome injection of celebration to lift our spirits. After this, the boys focused on their performance rather than the score, which helped lift their game-play and contribution.
We will continue to build upon the strengths within the squad and focus on the areas that need some attention whilst we are at the Rosslyn Park Festival on Sunday 13th Oct.
