Thanks all for coming down today, I know everyone is concerned about Marc, it is a distressing sight to see a boy leave in an ambulance. I am pleased to say Marc is home now, he has a bruised neck, which will no doubt be pretty stiff in the morning. Doctors orders are no rugby for 3 weeks. Marc is now in possession of his hard-won medal and the Cobham B U11 Shield, and most importantly back with a big smile.
What a great effort from the kids having seen a friend leave the pitch strapped to a trolley right at the end of their first game. When Marc was injured we were 12-7 up against London Irish, facing a last play. Glad to say after an hour off the field we came straight out and turned over and cleared our lines to win.
Next up was Tonbridge Juddians, aka Tonbridge Giants. We played very well and led 5-0 for most of the game, though we conceded a late try against the run of play which was converted, so we lost 5-7.
Final pool game was against Effingham. This was another really close game, neither side could score though we dominated possession and they were more relieved than us to get a 0-0 draw. Overall we came 2nd in our pool on points difference and faced Reeds for the Shield.
The Shield Final was another bruising game requiring a few rolling substitutions to keep 12 on the pitch. Both sides had chances to win though 0-0 was probably a fair result. Hands were shaken and the Shield was shared.
Fitting that after losing our Fly-Half the kids found an extra level of reserves to draw 3 games running. I am not sure who delivered Oliviers' car to the A&E car park, thanks to both of you. Thanks to Olivier, Nick, Jamie for getting the boys match ready.
