It was a tough first game of the season, but hopefully we took something from the game to build on. Our heads didn’t go down and we stuck to the task the whole way through so a real credit to the lads. We should now go into the National Plate competition (8th of December) so all is not lost!

Change in the Coaching Team

Sadly, TC has finally cracked under the pressure of work and has had to step down from the head coaching role for colts. He very much wants to keep in touch and see the lads develop their potential. A BIG thanks to TC for all his sterling efforts for the Colts section that has really progressed since he got involved.

Never fear, Josh is hear: Josh Penberthy has taken over the head coach role. He already knows the lads and is keen to carry on with our development plans of getting our lads through to senior rugby. This age group is a major target area of the RFU is a keen focus for all of their efforts.

We continue to have Filipe Saldanha in the coaching team. He is a Portuguese International (XVs and 7s) having played vs Scotland at Murrayfield in 1998 (qualifying match for the 1999 RWC) and more recently was part of the 2007 Rugby World Cup extended squad. He holds the Level 2 RFU coaching qualification.

We also welcome Stu Ridler to the coaching team. Stu plays for our first XV. He passed through the London Irish ASSE scheme and has just finished a sporting degree at UWIC.

Josh wants a meeting with the lads after Sunday’s game in the “shed” to have a chat about plans for the season and let the lads have their input.
