Teddington's women and girls day on Sunday was a great success with minis, juniors and adults taking part in our event supported by the RFU.

The day was an opportunity to open up the game to new players, as well as showcase the ongoing development of our club

The day kicked off at 10am with girls aged from 6-9 taking part in a fun games-based session, with plenty of early skills on show. Led by coaching support from the RFU and ladies coach Ali Donnelly, with support from Ben Bell and Lucy Harrison, the next session then focused on Juniors aged 11-18 with players joining from far and wide, including five youngsters from Twickenham's rugby club. This was an enjoyable session in the sun, which covered game-based scenarios and handling as well as a Crossbar challenge to round it off!

The final session was an hour welcoming adult players, with a raft of players who had never played before, enjoying a taster session involving games, introduction to contact,  and a kicking challenge.

After the coaching sessions, Teddington's U15 girls joined forces with London Irish and Wimbledon to play a game against Cobham/Camberley, rounding off a brilliant showcase for women and girls rugby at Bushy Park.

Director of Women and Girls Rugby at Teddington Sarah Edwards said: "The day was an opportunity to open up the game to new players, as well as showcase the ongoing development of our club in bringing more women and girls into the game. It was an excellent morning and we'll definitely look to repeat it again in the future."
