You’re at a dinner party. “What wine you’d like to drink – Red or White”? You choose and then take a sip, or a gulp!! Unless your host(ess) has told you, you probably won’t know which wine you’re drinking. You either like it or just keep drinking it. Would you like to know which the wine it is?

Interesting one
On the TV food shows, you see all the winos lift the glass to their nose before they drink it. The first reason is to make sure the wine is not corked (one in six bottles are). The second is to get the aromas from the wine they are about to drink.
Believe it, or believe it not, these two simple exercises substantially improve your enjoyment of drinking wine. The next time you have a glass of wine in your hand, try it.

Interesting two
Like to expand your wine knowledge? Increase the pleasure of drinking wine? Take a sip every time to see how the wine changes the more oxygen that goes into your glass. Notice the difference? Wine in a glass needs air to expand its characteristics. Want to learn more about wine? Be more confident with wine? What wine to serve with what food? Edwin Doran, owner of multi award winning South African winery, Doran Vineyards, a Teddington member/sponsor invites you to taste eight of his wines – four from each of his two brands, Horse Mountain and Doran Vineyards which he’ll pair/match withe four food dishes (including cheese).

Edwin guarantees you’ll leave the evening having enjoyed GOLD Medal winning wines, really good home cooking and great company. The cost is £25 per person including the food, bread, biscuits and wines and a donation to the club. To book, fill in your details, fax it to 020 8973 4525 or scan it to edwin@doranfamilyvintners.co.uk. Please advise food allergies directly to him on 020 8977 3843.
