To all our club members and DIY enthusiasts

We are one of the lucky rugby clubs that have been selected for a financial grant towards projects for improving our facilities for next season. We are organising our Rugby Force event which will take place on the weekend of 25th & 26th June 2016. We have a number of projects to complete over the two days:

- Weeding around club house
- Rubbing down exterior of club house
- Painting of club house exterior
- Treating all outside fencing and sheds (recently put up!)
- Clearing guttering of clubhouse
- Spring cleaning changing rooms
- Kit audit
- Rearranging storage / tidy up kit etc.
- Wash windows
- And much more

I need you all help make this a success.

First of all, we’ll need a number of “team leaders” for each of the jobs (when it comes to sanding down and repainting the club house, we need some expertise as we don’t want to do a bad job of it!). Once I have these names, we can start to work on logistics of what time slots that particular task should take place on (e.g. rubbing down club house 9-12 Saturday morning). I can also get a handle on what equipment and supplies we’ll need – I’m hoping someone will get us things like paint, paint brushes etc. on trade prices. Team leaders are really important so that anyone involved is utilised (and we avoid complete over enthusiastic carnage – flashback to changing room paint frenzy of 2009).

Kids: are not really going to be able to get involved however Lions Sports Academy are going to run some free entertainment for the kids of parents that do volunteer.

Food & drink will be provided and we plan to take lots of photos to show off what we have achieved. Are there any volunteers to snap away all day?

As a wise person once said “many hands make light work, but a bit of planning and organisation will avoid a complete mess”.

Ah yes, and I have lots of lovely RFU t-shirts for the volunteers!

Please let me know who can do what ASAP please.

Thanks for your support!

Cheers,

Kevin Day
