Thursday 24th September at the Stoop with Teddington RFC U10s playing before the main game.

To all club members

A quick note to let you know that the Legends KO time has changed from 7.45pm to 6.35pm to allow for full Sky coverage of the game and to avoid a clash with the Namibia v New Zealand RWC game. The earlier start may be more appealing to families with youngsters.

The good news is that Teddington RFC U10s have also been invited to play a match against London Welsh RFC before the main game.

PRE-MATCH
· 4:30pm to 5:45pm - All Schools coaching clinic with Maggie Alphonsi on one half
· 4:30pm to 5:45pm –mini games between London Welsh and Teddington RFC U10s
· 6:27pm – Guard of honour
· 6:30pm – Wales National Anthem – sung by The London Welsh Rugby Choir (~20-30 male choristers)
· 6:32pm – England National Anthem – sung by Simon Greenhill
· 6:35pm – Kick off

As part of the RFU Festival of Rugby, The England v Wales Rugby Legends Charity Match will be played in the peak of excitement and anticipation of the RWC fixture between England and Wales.

This is a charity match which will raise funds for the RFU Injured Players Foundation, RESTART – The Rugby Players Charity and ALL Schools.

Essentially this is a rugby game involving ex-International players from both the England and Wales teams. The players are selected based on a minimum number of international caps which means that the level of rugby will be both credible and entertaining. In the 5+ years that the Legends games have been staged, the event has proven to be a success for both die-hard rugby fans and families alike. The England Legends have also raised an impressive £600,000 for nominated charities, and stand to raise a further £100,000 for charities at this next game.

The game has full RFU endorsement (with English players being permitted to wear the English Rose on their shirts), and has also been accredited as part of the Festival of Rugby. This event is very close to Jason Leonard’s heart, and the significance of his involvement is huge given his start as President of the RFU.

England Legends players will be managed by Jason Leonard OBE and include Mike Tindall MBE, Iain Balshaw MBE, Lewis Moody MBE, Andy Gomarsall MBE, Kevin Yates, James Forrester, Paul Volley, Paul Sampson, Dan Scarborough, Ollie Phillips, and Sam Vesty.

The Wales Legends will be managed by Jonathan Davies, captained by Colin Charvis and include Chris Wyatt, Darren Morris, Peter Rogers and Dafydd James and many more names TBC in the coming weeks.

If you have any questions please reply to this email.

Cheers
Leon.
