Antlers ladies have had a great start to 2015 with a league win, an award for their head coach and training led by England Head Coach Gary Street.

Taking on Cheltenham’s seconds in their first league match of the year, there was some flowing rugby on display as the ladies ran out 53-0 winners. It was an attacking game to savour with Aimee Miller dotting down four times as well as a first try this season for Sarah Edwards, with the forward pack in particular putting in an excellent all round performance to lay a solid foundation. Antler’s try line was never really threatened throughout the game.

Next up is the third round of the National Junior Cup where the ladies welcome Wymondham Wasps to Bushy Park on Sunday, KO 2pm,

Head Coach Ali Donnelly also won an award in January with a special tankard from the Rugby Writers’ Association for her work on women’s rugby website Scrumqueens.com

Finally the highlight of the month has been the guest training session for the team run by England coach Gary Street. With some extra numbers from our partner club St Mary’s, some 30 players were involved in a fantastic session which left both players and coaches with plenty of food for thought.

Antlers have also entered a development team for the first time into the Griffin Cup – a Middlesex tournament for developing teams. The first round will take place at Bushy Park on the weekend of February 15th.

With plans to develop a second team next season Antlers ladies are always looking for new players of all abilities. So even if you’re 50 and brand new to rugby you’re more than welcome to join us, email Sarah on sarah.edwards@makeitclear.co.uk for more details.
