The end of season playing awards were handed out at the players dinner, held at the clubhouse on Friday 20th April. A good cross section of players from the 1st XV, 2nd XV, 3rd XV and the Fat Stags XV were there to celebrate another cracking season of rugby and to honour those who had caught the eye of the coaches, captains and most importantly their teammates.
This year we had as our guest of honour Rob Wilsons widow Sarah, who also presented an award named in Robs memory to 1st XV captain Dom Stone. Rob was a talented, hard tackling back row player for the Antlers 1st XV back in the 1980's and 90's. Rob sadly passed away in July 2017, leaving behind his wife Sarah and two sons Laurence and Patrick (both Antlers age group players). The award which will be presented annually to the hardest tacking 1st XV player is a fitting way to remember Rob.
It was a fantastic evening with all the usual banter, beer and plenty of anecdotes from another eventful season. The photo shows Players Player of the year and 1st XV fly-half Bob BEEVERS with Club Chairman Simon DAVIS and Head coach Paul MANLEY.
